Various types of lasers are used in ophthalmology Green laser or Argon laser which is a coagulating laser is used in retina to treat diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment surgery and sealing degenerations and holes in retina. Excimer lasers are used for cutting tissue in correction of refractive errors Yag laser which is an ablating laser is used for treating thickend capsules and after cataracts and cutting vitreous gel. Lasers are also used for making small cuts in the eye but main procedure of removing cataract is by ultrasound called phaco emulsification.
